Today, I’m excited to share the ten things we did to our home in Ecuador to make it feel more cozy and inviting. Whether you’re moving abroad or just looking to spruce up your space, these tips will help you create a warm and comfortable environment.
Add Rugs
First up, we added rugs. Rugs can instantly transform a room, making it feel warmer and more inviting. We chose a mix of textures and colors to bring some personality to our floors. Plus, they help define different areas in an open-plan space.
Bring in Pillows
Next, we brought in a variety of pillows. They’re an easy and affordable way to add comfort and style. We mixed and matched different patterns and textures to keep things interesting and cozy.
Ship Your Favorite Furniture
We decided to ship our own couch from home. Having a familiar piece of furniture made a huge difference in making our new place feel like home. It’s comfy, and it’s ours, so it was worth the effort.
Buy Various Plants
Plants are a great way to bring life into a home. We bought various plants that thrive in Ecuador’s climate. They add a touch of greenery and help purify the air, making our space feel fresh and vibrant.
Hang Pictures and Artwork
Personalizing your space with pictures and artwork can really make a difference. We used command strips to hang our favorite pieces without damaging the walls – perfect for rentals. These personal touches remind us of home and our travels.
Scatter Blankets and Throws
Blankets and throws are must-haves for a cozy home. We have various them scattered around the house for those chilly evenings. They add warmth and a soft, inviting touch to our living areas.
Fresh Flowers and Sheer Curtains
Fresh flowers are a simple way to brighten up any room. We also have sheer curtains to maintain privacy while letting in natural light. It’s all about creating a light and airy feel that’s still cozy.
Move Furniture Around
One of the first things we did was rearrange the furniture that came with the house. Sometimes, just changing the layout can make a big difference in how a space feels. We found a setup that worked better for us and made the space more functional.
Remove Excess Furniture and Items
Finally, we removed excess furniture and items to reduce clutter. A clutter-free home feels more spacious and relaxing. We kept only what we needed and loved, which made our home feel more open and serene.
Add Shelving
Incorporating shelves helped us organize our belongings without sacrificing style. Shelves are great for displaying books, plants, and other decorative items, adding both function and flair to our space.
Conclusion
And there you have it – ten things we did to make our home in Ecuador more cozy.
